Moorabbin Cricket Club is thrilled to announce the appointment of Thomas Purcell as our JG Craig coach for the upcoming 2024/25 season. Tom brings a wealth of experience, passion, and expertise to our club, embodying the qualities of a young, up-and-coming leader in the cricketing world.

With three years of coaching experience with the SECA U14 VCMU teams, Tom has already proven himself as a capable and dedicated mentor to young cricketers. His tenure as a coach at Young Guns Moorabbin further highlights his commitment to nurturing talent and fostering a love for the game at the grassroots level.

Tom’s insights as a current player for Richmond Cricket Club, coupled with two years of valuable on-field experience within a respected organisation, provide him with a unique perspective on the intricacies of the game. His firsthand knowledge of match dynamics and strategic play will undoubtedly benefit our players as they strive for success on the field.

Tom’s cricketing journey extends beyond domestic borders, with two years of immersive experiences in India. His time spent playing and training in India, including recent training at the Chennai Super Kings academy, has provided him with invaluable insights into different cricketing cultures and training methodologies. This international exposure equips him with a diverse range of techniques and strategies to impart to our players, enhancing their overall skill set and understanding of the game.

Tom’s credentials as a Level 2 Cricket Australia Coach, obtained through his studies at the SEDA High-Performance Program, underscore his dedication to continuous learning and development in the realm of cricket coaching. Additionally, his pursuit of a Diploma of Sports Management & Administration with Cricket Australia demonstrates his commitment to excellence both on and off the field.

As our new JG Craig coach, Tom is poised to lead the young Moorabbin Cricket Club men to new heights. His passion for the game, coupled with his coaching acumen and dedication to player development, align perfectly with our club’s ambitions for the season ahead.
